This National Rifle Association Certified Course is designed to teach new shooters the essential skills for safely handling and accurately firing their pistol. The student will learn basic firearm safety as well as stance, grip, follow through, sight alignment and sight picture and the basic operation of their pistol. Students may use their own appropriate pistol or revolver, or if you do not have a firearm, C.I. Shooting Sports can provide one to you for an additional cost.
This course establishes a basic skill set that the student can then take into other more advanced courses or competition. The State of Illinois offers 8 hours of credit for this course toward the 16 hour Illinois Concealed Carry License.
Course Requirements:

Must have a current and valid FOID card

50 rounds of ammunition

A holster that fits inside or outside the waistband (No cross draw, ankle holsters, pocket holsters or shoulder holsters)

A single or double magazine pouch for semi-auto pistols or a single or double speed loader pouch for revolvers

At least three magazines for a pistol or two speed loaders or two speed strips for a revolver

Hearing & Eye Protection (we will have some available for you to use if you do not have any)
